That Benton Fellow
Synopsis
Anthony Benton, though normally rather quiet in nature, was
nevertheless responsible for creating a number of small ripples on the sea of life. In fact, there were a few times when there were real waves
beating against the unseen Hand at the helm, guiding him back on course.
Due to a tendency toward shyness Anthony made friends very
slowly, but there were many who loved him, and he responded to their love. It is hoped that through his experiences – experiences which
accurately portray the life and the motives of the author, you will find lovable characteristics, as well as some points that are worthy of
emulation.
His life testifies to the fact that God patiently awaits the return
of every wayfaring prodigal, and restores to him or her a place at the banquet table in His household. May you be blessed as you read.
Author Biography
Dick Beman
Dick Beman, the fourth child and first son of Addison and
Laura Mae Canedy Beman, was born in Southport, New York on November 30, 1919. He was given the name Addrian Richard Beman at
the time of his birth, that he might have a name similar to his father’s but not being known as ‘junior.’ The extra ‘d’ in the first name was
intended to make it unique; but it has just caused confusion, and the nickname relating to his middle name has been quite generally
adopted, although his ‘given’ name remains official.
Economic conditions, particularly during his earlier years,
contributed to a very simple form of rural life, to which Dick adjusted well; and he has carried that lifestyle through the years that have
followed.
He has a special love for nature and the great out-of-doors,
and has followed the farming occupation during many years; but his chief interest, and his greatest love, is with the God of nature, to whom he
has had the privilege of yielding special service, though not in the capacity of an ordained minister.
It is Dick’s desire that many, in considering the experiences
of “Anthony Benton," will find new courage day to day living, and greater comfort in a close walk with the Creator and Sustainer of all things.
May He bless.
